Wilt Chamberlain stamp ceremony Dec. 5
The two United States Wilt Chamberlain commemorative forever stamps will be issued Dec. 5 in Philadelphia, Pa.
The first-day ceremony is tentatively scheduled to take place at 7:30 p.m., according to a listing on the U.S. Postal Service’s online events calendar.
The Friday event coincides with the 7 p.m Philadelphia 76ers home game against the Oklahoma City Thunder at Wells Fargo Center.
Postal Service officials have not announced if the ceremony will be open to the public or if collectors will have to purchase game tickets to attend.
The 7-foot 1-inch NBA basketball star will be featured on two stamps issued in a pane of 20.
The format for the stamp will be extra tall and not a standard commemorative stamp size.
The designs of the two stamps have not been revealed by the Postal Service as of Sept. 19.
