Promotions for Rudolph stamps: postmarks, vended postage
One of four Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer forever stamps to be issued in November. Four postmarks and vended postage will be offered nationwide to coincide with the stamp issuance.
When the United States Postal Service issues its four Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer forever stamps in November, it will also promote the new issue with postmarks and computer-vended postage labels employing the Rudolph theme.
USPS stamp services director Susan McGowan told Linn’s that four different sprayed-on cancellations, the postmarks applied at U.S. mail-processing facilities, will be offered in four different areas of the country, with one in each area.
Also, computer-vended postage with a Rudolph theme will be sold through the Postal Service’s self-service kiosks, also known as automated postal centers (APCs), in selected post office lobbies.
The design or issue date for the Rudolph postage label has not been released. Christmas-theme computer-vended postage labels are typically placed into machines in mid-November and remain available through the end of December.
The Rankin/Bass television production Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer debuted 50 years ago on Dec. 6, 1964.
Only one of the four Rudolph postage stamp designs has been revealed by the Postal Service. The remaining designs will be unveiled on USPS social media sites leading up to the stamp set’s issue date.
