Introduce the hobby to others at ASDA show in New York City

Sep 25, 2015, 6 AM

The American Stamp Dealers Association will present its annual New York Fall Postage Stamp Show Oct. 23-25 in the ballroom of the New York Hilton Midtown, 1335 Avenue of the Americas (6th Avenue and W. 53rd Street), in New York City.

The ASDA is an organization for professional stamp dealers. The organization celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2014.

More than 35 dealers will participate in the event, which returned to the Hilton, one of the city’s best-known hotels, last year for the first time in more than 20 years.

The United States Postal Service and the United Nations Postal Administration will participate at the show with first-day ceremonies.

The USPS will operate a postal counter where collectors can purchase stamps and postal products. The UNPA will have a booth at the show.

Be sure to read our preshow coverage of the U.S. Postal Service’s Oct. 23 first-day ceremony for the Geometric Snowflakes stamps.

The new-issue agent Nordica will represent the Scandinavian postal administrations of Aland, Denmark, Faroe Islands, Finland, Greenland, Iceland, and Norway.

If you want to know what your stamps are worth, free appraisals will be given during the stamp show.

Use the show as an opportunity to introduce your family members to stamp collecting. They are sure to find the show entertaining, and each child who attends will receive a free My Stamp Album.

Several specialist societies will be represented at the show, including the American Topical Association, the Ebony Society of Philatelic Events and Reflections Inc., the United States Stamp Society and the Vatican Philatelic Society.

Representatives of World Stamp Show-NY 2016 will be on hand to provide details on the international stamp show that will take place May 28-June 4 at New York City’s Javits Center.

Show hours for the New York Fall Postage Stamp Show are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free.
