Knight wins duck stamp society art contest
By Linn’s Staff
The National Duck Stamp Collectors Society (NDSCS) has announced that Rebekah Knight of Deepwater, Mo., is the winner of its annual art competition. Knight’s painting of a harlequin drake will grace the society’s 2024 stamp.
This is Knight’s fourth National Duck Stamp Collectors Society stamp. Her artwork appears on the 2013, 2018 and 2021 NDSCS stamps, along with the 2006 federal junior duck stamp and the 2013 Nevada state duck stamp.
The stamp will have a first-day-of-sale ceremony at the Great American Stamp Show on Thursday, Aug. 15 in Hartford, Conn. The ceremony is to take place at 3 p.m. and is free to attend. It will be held on the show floor next to the United States Postal Service’s booth.
A total of 14 entries were received from NDSCS member artists, and voting was open to the entire membership of the NDSCS. All 14 entries received votes.
Second place went to Ray Easton of Webster, N.Y., for his painting of a blue-winged teal, and third place was a tie between Gerald Putt’s painting of a wood duck and Diane Ford’s painting of a gadwall.
The National Duck Stamp Collectors Society was founded in 1992. The society issued its first stamp in 2009, and the series features a who’s who of wildlife artists.
National Duck Stamp Collectors Society stamps can be purchased on the society’s website or from duck stamp dealers. Membership in the society is available for $25 a year and includes a subscription to the quarterly journal, Duck Tracks.
