France features sports of Oceania on new round sheet

France’s La Poste continues its series of round souvenir sheets with sports-themed stamps with a new sheet issued June 5.

That sheet focuses on the continent of Oceania and includes six €1.80 stamps illustrating the sports of golf, wrestling, weightlifting, surfing, sports shooting and para-cycling.

The last-mentioned is a bicycle sport suitable for people with physical disabilities. According to La Poste, it has been practiced for decades and was introduced to the Paralympic Games in 1984.

Sandrine Chimbaud designed the souvenir sheet, and it was printed by Philaposte by gravure. The quantity produced was 290,000 sheets.

Previous round souvenir sheets in this series featured the European, American, Asian continent and African continents.
