Rate change approved by Postal Regulatory Commission

Higher stamp prices proposed by the United States Postal Service have won the endorsement of the Postal Regulatory Commission and will become effective April 26.

While the price of a first-class letter remains at 49¢, a second ounce will cost 22¢, up from 21¢ under the Feb. 24, 2014, order.

The rate for postcards will increase to 35¢, from 34¢.

The price for a first-class one-ounce letter to foreign countries will increase by 5¢, to $1.20.

Non-machinable foreign single-piece first-class mail will increase to $1.42 and postcards will increase to $1.20 each.
