5. Hall collection sale shows strength of U.S. stamp market: The sale featured mint and used U.S. classics, as well as blocks and larger multiples.

4. Author Flannery O'Connor on new stamp June 5: The nondenominated (93¢) 3-ounce rate stamp will be issued June 5 during the Napex stamp show in McLean, Va.

3. May 31 rates turn up in post offices on May 20: Postal customers who contacted Linn's reported that postal clerks were aware of the problem and were manually calculating fees to circumvent the inaccurate computations.

2. Rate increase delay hits USPS hard: "The Postal Service gave up about $100 million in the delay in postal rate increases due to filing errors," a Postal Regulatory Commission official states.

1. New U.S. stamps planned for new rates: The stamps are similar to the nondenominated forever stamps for first-class letter mail, in that they will fulfill their designated rates regardless of future rate changes.
