Woman charged with using stamps to hide drugs sent to prisoner husband

File this one away as a clever use for stamps.

A couple has been charged with conspiring to furnish contraband to a Saginaw, Mich., prison after Christina M. Stout was caught sending an opiate to her imprisoned husband, Brett E. Stout, by hiding it under the stamps used on her mail, according to The Saginaw News.

"Saginaw County Sheriff William Federspiel said that a jail corrections officer on Dec. 10 was sifting through mail when they became suspicious of mail addressed to Brett Stout, who was lodged as an inmate at the jail,” the Feb. 27 report reads. 

“Sublingual films of suboxone” were found underneath the stamp. 

The charges against the couple are felony charges that carry a maximum penalty of five years in prison. 

So maybe "clever" is the wrong word for this pair.
