Philatelic Foreword by Jay Bigalke

With the move of Linn’s Stamp News to being produced weekly in a digital format, I thought it might be worth noting a few of the tips and tricks available when using the digital reader.

When opening the link to the latest issue, the display will look like the two-page spread shown nearby. There is a caret at the bottom that pops up when you hover your mouse over it. This allows you to navigate the displayed issue page-by-page with clickable thumbnail images of each page and arrows left and right to navigate back or forward, respectively, throughout the issue.

At the top of the page is another caret which drops down and contains the key toolbar, shown close-up above the image nearby. From left to right on the toolbar, the first symbol is a magnifying glass that when clicked brings up a box enabling you to do a full-text search of words within that issue.

The second symbol is a file cabinet that allows you to access and navigate archived issues.

The third symbol on the toolbar is an arrow pointing down. This is the download button which allows you to download a PDF copy of the displayed issue. Once you download an issue, you can use that PDF file to print the issue if you wish. You also can print just a range of pages of the article or articles for which you would like to have printed copies.

The next symbol is a widget that opens up the digital reader’s display settings. The symbol next to that has four boxes and when clicked pulls up small thumbnail page previews, similar to what the bottom caret does.

Finally, the last two buttons are for exiting the browser and for full-screen viewing.

We hope these tips are helpful in navigating the Linn’s digital edition. We look forward to your feedback regarding the digital Linn’s, and we welcome hearing about your own tips and tricks for its use to share with our readers.
