Canada issues replacement for wrong Dinosaur Provincial Park design
Canada Post issued a replacement stamp Aug. 21 featuring Dinosaur Provincial Park as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The new stamp was created with the assistance of the park’s officials.
The previous stamp and related collectibles were pulled from sale due to an incorrect photograph that was not of the park. The incorrect image was discovered on the July 3 issue date, and Canada Post decided to recall the items.
New collectibles in this UNESCO series are also being reissued.
The original stamp showed hoodoos, described as "columns of naturally weathered rock," by Fred Baumann, who has been covering the story and the related Hoodoo Snafu for Linn's Stamp News.
Dinosaur Provincial Park is located in the badlands of the province of Alberta.
