Nicholas Winton, pictured here in Prague in 2007, has been honored on a new Czech Post issue.

Here's a quick look at what's happening in the world of stamp collecting.

1. Sir Nicholas gets another stamp

Not long after the UK's Royal Mail announced it would honor Sir Nicholas Winton, who is commonly referred to as "Britain's Schindler" for his actions to protect hundreds of Jewish children from Czechoslovakia during World War II, a Czech Post stamp honoring him is out.

The Czech Post stamp, which can be viewed here, was issued on Sept. 2 and contains a portrait of Winton with children in the background.

A petition started by The Jewish News earlier this summer to have the UK's Royal Mail issue a commemorative stamp for Winton was a success after more than 100,000 signatures of support were received.

Winton died in July at the age of 106. He is credited with rescuing 669 Czech children who were fleeing Nazi occupation by setting up foster families for them in Britain.

2. Scott update

A new crop of Scott numbers have been assigned to recently issued United States and United Nations stamps.

4. USPS politics

"Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., the only 2016 presidential candidate to address postal issues in his campaign, has been acting without public attention on another important postal issue. The Vermont senator single handedly has forced the United States Postal Service board of governors out of business, two individuals familiar with the issue have told Linn’s."
