5. Stars and Stripes theme for new U.S. presorted standard coils: Each nondenominated Stars and Stripes stamp is inscribed “Presorted Standard” and has a nominal postage value of 10¢.

4. Iwo Jima 1945, the photograph and the 3¢ green stamp: On Feb. 19, 1945, the Marines invaded a small, well-defended and heavily fortified volcanic island about 700 miles south of Tokyo.

3. Court rules USPS must pay 37¢ Korean War artist $540,000: The Feb. 4 ruling by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit still could be appealed to the Supreme Court.

2. Jenny Invert to be auctioned in Siegel sale of Curtis collection: This most well-known of U.S. stamp errors was the inspiration for the $2 Jenny Invert stamp (Scott 4806) issued in 2013.

1. 35 rare 5c China Imperial Dragons found in attic in UK: The stamps, which had lain undisturbed for approximately 125 years, were discovered in the attic of a house in the Cotswolds.
