Evans leaving 'Canadian Stamp News'
Bret Evans, editor and associate publisher of Canadian Stamp News, is leaving the publication to “move on to new challenges,” the paper reported in its Dec. 30, 2014, issue.
Evans said he has been with Trajan Publishing Corp., the paper’s parent company, for “more than 20 years.”
He was named editor of Canadian Coin News in 1990, and took on the position of managing editor at the biweekly Canadian Stamp News commencing with the Oct. 22, 2002, issue.
He is a graduate of Conestoga College, and previously worked as a reporter and editor for community newspapers in Ontario and Alberta.
Publisher Michael Walsh is undertaking a search for a new editor.
“I want to thank Bret for all of his hard work and contributions to Trajan and to the stamp and coin communities,” Walsh said.
Evans is the president of the Royal Canadian Numismatic Association, and may occasionally contribute articles to Canadian Stamp News and Canadian Coin News, according to the paper.
Trajan Publishing Corp. is located in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada, in the Niagara region. n
