Greene Foundation appoints McLaughlin president
By Linn’s Staff
The Vincent Graves Greene Philatelic Research Foundation announced the appointment of David M. McLaughlin as president effective Nov. 13, 2023, in a Nov. 30 press release.
McLaughlin has served on the foundation’s board of directors since 2019. He is also the president of the British North America Philatelic Society, the international liaison officer for the Royal Philatelic Society of Canada, and a director of the Federacion Interamericana de Filatelia (FIAF, the international philatelic federation for the Americas).
According to the press release, McLaughlin’s research on Canada’s 1897-98 Queen Victoria Maple Leaf issue (Scott 66-73), his main collecting interest, has led to the discovery of unrecorded die and plate states and the reclassification of other items.
“It is an honour and a privilege for me to serve as President of the Vincent Graves Greene Philatelic Research Foundation and to follow the paths created through the work of my predecessors Harry Sutherland, Ted Nixon, and Garfield Portch,” McLaughlin said.
The Vincent Graves Greene Philatelic Research Foundation encourages and promotes research in philately and postal history by providing expertizing services; maintaining the Harry Sutherland Philatelic Library in Toronto, Ontario, Canada; publishing research; supporting educational programs and participating in exhibitions.
The foundation was established in 1975 with funding from Vincent Graves Greene, a prominent Canadian philatelic researcher, author, exhibitor and signatory to the Roll of Distinguished Philatelists.
