Images added for Canada in Scott digital catalog

Jul 26, 2023, 8 AM
Hundreds of new images were recently added to the Canada pages of the Scott Digital Catalogue Subscription. Shown are the listings for the Canada Jubilee set of 1897 and the 1897-98 definitive series.

Philatelic Foreword by Jay Bigalke

A picture is worth a thousand words, and the Scott editorial team continues to take that seriously. An enhancement made in June to the Canada section of the Scott Digital Catalogue Subscription highlights this.

Hundreds of new images were added, many of them definitives (regular issues), to the digital catalog. The new images can help collectors quickly locate a stamp just by looking for the design.

Pictured nearby is a page from the digital catalog subscription showing the 1897 Jubilee stamps (Scott 50-65). In the print edition of the Scott catalog, just one of the stamps is shown. In the digital catalog, the full set is pictured.

Another example is the 1897-98 Queen Victoria definitive stamps (Scott 66-73). In the print catalog, only Scott 66 is shown; the other seven stamps in different denominations and colors are pictured in the digital catalog.

And this continues now for many of Canada’s stamps into the 1970s. Not everything has been completed, but the digital edition already has hundreds of new images added making the Canada listings more image heavy.

To access the Canada pages in the digital catalog subscription, subscribe to the Vol. 2 Scott Standard Postage Stamp Catalogue.

This option allows access to all of the Vol. 2 countries (C-F).
