Great Britain’s royal family will continue the patronage of the Royal Philatelic Society London, society president Mike J.Y. Roberts announced in a May 8 newsletter.

This follows cuts to the number of royal patronages after a major review undertaken since the coronation of King Charles III in 2023.

The royal family announced the conclusion of the review in a May 4 statement published on the official website of the royal family.

The statement said Queen Elizabeth II was patron of 492 organizations at the time of her death, and 376 of these will be retained by King Charles or other members of the royal family.

Of the 441 organizations already affiliated with the king before his coronation, 367 will be retained by him or passed to other members of the royal family.

Roberts said he received a personal letter from the king and queen’s private secretary, Sir Clive Alderton, confirming the continued patronage.

Roberts said: “It is indeed a great honour for our Society. I would like to offer my sincere thanks to all those who have contributed to this including our staff and our many volunteers both in the UK and abroad.”
