Markovits, who died in December, was an expert on U.S. back-of-the-book material and began his collection of special delivery issues in 1954.

H.R. Harmer, of Tustin, Calif., will hold a two-session auction in New York in conjunction with World Stamp Show-NY 2016 on June 3 at 1 p.m. This will conclude six days of auctions at the once-a-decade international show.

The sale offers the Adolph J. Capurro collection of mint worldwide stamps, including collections. The collection is described by Kelleher as “a truly massive, mint, fairly complete collection of the world through the issues of 1955.”

Two attention grabbers in this sale are U.S. classics with inverted centers: the 1869 15¢ brown and blue type II Landing of Columbus (Scott 119b) and the 1901 4¢ brown and black Pan-American Automobile stamp (296a).

U.S. independent mails will be auctioned Wednesday, and a selection of U.S. and Confederate postal history will be offered Thursday and Friday.

An unused example of one of America’s most highly prized stamp errors, the 1869 30¢ bicolor Shield, Eagle, and Flags stamp with the flags inverted (Scott 121b), will be offered at auction April 7 by Robert A. Siegel Auction Galleries. The stamp is included in the sale of the Hanover collection of superb quality U.S. stamps, part one, the first of two consecutive auctions taking place at the New York City Siegel gallery. On April 8, the firm will offer the Rollin C. Huggins Jr. collection of U.S. Officials.

Collectors of Canada’s popular Small Queens issue of 1870-97 have a long-awaited treat in store for them as the April 16 presentation from Brigham Auctions will offer the Small Queens material from Ron Brigham’s extensive award-winning collection of Canada. Close to 800 lots of essays and proofs, stamp singles and multiples, postal history, production varieties and more will be offered in the auction.

Cherrystone Philatelic Auctioneers will present its Rare Stamps and Postal History of the World auction April 12-13 at the Cherrystone galleries in New York City. The public auction will offer 1,716 lots of material from the United States and worldwide, including stamps, postal stationery, postal history, proofs and essays, large lots and collections, and more.

The next Regency-Superior public auction will take place April 2-3 at the St. Louis Stamp Expo 2016 in St. Louis, Mo. The stamp show will be held April 1-3 at the Renaissance St. Louis Airport Hotel, 9801 Natural Bridge Road. Regency-Superior will offer auction viewing at the show beginning Friday morning.

One of the iconic classic stamps from Hawaii’s famous 1851-52 Missionaries set will be auctioned by Daniel F. Kelleher Auctions. The 13¢ stamp is part of the March 21-24 Flagship series sale taking place at the Kelleher offices in Danbury, Conn.

In a series of four auctions presented March 15-18 in New York City, Robert A. Siegel Auction Galleries will offer the Don David Price collection of United States bicolor issues; the Steven Walske collection of U.S.-France trans-Atlantic mail; U.S. classic stamps (plus postmasters’ provisionals, essays and proofs, and modern errors); and U.S. revenues, federal duck stamps and prints.

An 1877 cover from Finland franked with 10 32-penni stamps of the 1875-82 issue (Scott 23) will be offered during the March 18-19 international auction from Postiljonen. The franking is created from a strip of 10 that includes a gutter separating five vertical stamps on either end.
