Creative postmark design embraces ‘rails to trails’ theme

Jul 6, 2023, 1 PM
This clever illustration makes clouds out of railroad tracks, a nod to the junction where two Pere Marquette railroad lines met at White Cloud, Mich.

Postmark Pursuit by Molly Goad

White Cloud, Mich., celebrated 150 years with activities July 7-9, including a pictorial postmark depicting the sesquicentennial theme, “From rails to trails.”

The sky part of the design includes train tracks that morph downward into a grassy path used by a cyclist, runner and dog walker. The grass transitions upward via flowers and a small tree that blend into a cloud. The center of the image contains the text: “Honoring the past. Embracing the present. Imagining the future.”

The White Cloud post office offered the cancellation outside its building on July 7.

To obtain the postmark, address your request to:

WHITE CLOUD SESQUICENTENNIAL Station, Postmaster, Box 9998, White Cloud, MI 49349, July 7.
