From the Scott Editors by Jay Bigalke

Another catalog season is upon us as we continue the journey of the 155-year history of the Scott catalogs. The 2024 volumes are the 180th edition of the Scott Standard Postage Stamp Catalogue.

Volume 6A includes listings for the countries of the world San (San Marino) through Tete. Listings for Thai (Thailand) through Z countries of the world can be found in Vol. 6B.

Because Vol. 6B is a continuation of the first part of the Vol. 6 catalog, the introduction pages are not repeated in each volume.

This year’s Vol. 6A cover features the Sweden 2016 6.50-krona Beach Umbrella and Book stamp (Scott 2776) from a set of vacation activities stamps.

And the Vol. 6B cover features the 2008 Tokelau $1 Boats on Beach stamp (Scott 370) from a set of five showing local scenes.

For the 2024 Scott catalog season, we continue a review of Portuguese areas, which for Vol. 6 included Timor and Zambia. Numerous value changes were made for each location, with a mix of increases and slight decreases noted.

Additional interest in Latin American countries continues to be seen, and some of the value increases reflect that. Venezuela listings in the classic period were reviewed for the 2024 catalog season, and approximately 100 value changes were made. One example is the 1859 Coat of Arms stamp on greenish paper (Scott 3c) that moved from $225 to $250 in unused condition.

Other reviewed countries include Saudi Arabia, Somaliland, Syria and Sudan. Many other countries received less extensive reviews that are not noted in this letter.

A digital subscription is also available for the Scott catalogs, and information about the subscription can be found on the AmosAdvantage website.

Approximately 500 images of stamps not pictured in the Vol. 6 print edition were added to this year’s Vol. 6 digital catalog.
