Could the Next Generation Delivery Vehicle be the next USPS mail truck?

That’s the newest postal acronym for Next Generation Delivery Vehicle — a bigger, but not sleeker, delivery truck that the cash-strapped Postal Service wants to buy for residential deliveries. -

Mint plate blocks, mint panes of 2¢ Warren G. Harding elusive in marketplace

Harding stamp perforated gauge 11 (Scott 610) at $1.10 in mint never-hinged condition. The stamp was printed in plates of 400 subjects, which were divided into four panes of 100 for distribution and sale. -

John C. Fremont 1856 presidential campaign cover fetches $345 in McCusker sale

One vignette shows a battle scene from the West (Fremont was considered a military hero), and the other shows his portrait. -

Dramatic Igor Sikorsky error block to be offered at Nov. 21-22 Regency-Superior Chicagopex auction
by By Michael BaadkeThe error is the 1988 36¢ multicolor Igor Sikorsky airmail stamp with the intaglio red, blue and black ink absent, an omission that eliminates the text and numeral inscriptions, as well as the image of the 1939 VS300 helicopter that normally appears on the stamp (Scott C119a). -

Depression-era Victor Arnautoff mural discovered in basement of California post office
by By Bill McAllister, Washington CorrespondentThe mural is by Victor Arnautoff, who was commissioned by the federal Works Progress Administration to produce murals for federal buildings in the Bay Area as part of a New Deal program. Officials said the painting had been declared lost after the downtown Richmond post office was remodeled in 1979, but a former janitor of the building helped officials from the museum find it. -

Pablo Casals and his cello featured on San Juan, Puerto Rico, postmark
by By Michael BaadkeSala Sinfonica Pablo Casals is a 1,300-seat concert hall in San Juan, Puerto Rico, that serves as the home to the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra. The first concert performed there took place Oct. 3, 2009. The hall is named for cellist and conductor Pablo Casals (1876-1973), who was born in Catalonia, Spain. -
