Tip of the week: Bhutan 1973 Phonograph Record set

These weren’t just stamps commemorating phonograph records. They were actual phonograph records that can be played on any standard record player. -

Newly discovered unique mint Germania watermark variety to be offered in German auction
by CMS AdminAn outstanding stamp rarity, just recently discovered, will be offered at the 57th auction of Aix-Phila Briefmarken in Aachen, Germany, Nov. 27-28. The 1920 mint condition stamp is Germany’s 2-mark carmine and blue Germania, printed on paper with the quatrefoils (crucifer flower) watermark. The stamp is unique in mint condition. -

Most of the production was perforated gauge 10 (Scott 2723), but a small part of the issue was perforated gauge 11.2 by 11.5 (2723A). -

When she met with reporters Nov. 13, the postmaster general opened her review of the Postal Service’s fiscal 2015 financial results, saying she was delighted that the Postal Service had managed to show it could have achieved controllable income of more than $1 billion for two years in a row. -
