In mid-September, Nilsestuen and five others posted candidate statements on the Stamp Collecting Forum and the Virtual Stamp Club, two websites devoted to stamp collecting.

    The first United States stamp to honor the nation’s 27th president, William Howard Taft, was issued June 4, 1930, less than three months after Taft died on March 8. After serving as president from 1909 to 1913, Taft was appointed chief justice of the United States by President Warren G. Harding in 1921, and served in that office until he resigned in 1930, one month before his death.
